Basilico Steenberg

The Basilico Steenberg Restaurant celebrates its gorgeous setting in Tokai, a beautiful part of Cape Town, full of natural beauty and fun things to do. Basilico complements this gorgeous setting with its top-notch Italian cuisine. Situated in the Steenberg Village Centre, this restaurant is open from Monday to Sunday for lunch or dinner with friends, a celebration, a romantic date or a corporate get-together.

Basilico is famous for its wood-fired pizzas. But, the menu here is varied. Starters include a warm roast pepper and artichoke salad, chicken tortellini in a mushroom and thyme cream sauce, and springbok carpaccio with pecorino cheese. Main courses are a delightful selection of hearty favourites and innovative approaches.

They include grilled pork fillet with a garlic and ginger sauce, lamb cutlets with roasted red pepper and feta salad, chicken and mushroom risotto, Super A grade Sirloin grilled to perfection with a pepper sauce, and a wide array of salads, pasta and pizzas. The desserts are decadent and delicious. Malva pudding with butterscotch sauce, Black cherry and chocolate brownie, a selection of Sundaes (all made with double cream vanilla pod and Belgium chocolate ice-cream) to choose from are all the order of the day for those with a sweet tooth.

In addition to the food, Basilico also has a comprehensive wine list that includes some of the local wines from the Constantia Valley, as well as others from further afield. The craft beers are always a hit, as is the “Newlands Spring Tribute Larger” on tap. The small bar area is ideal for those few diners that want to break away from dinner to get a quick look at the latest score on the high-def TV.

Lunch specials at R75.00 and a full takeaway menu ensure that diners really couldn’t ask for much more in the way of delicious convenience.
